You either get better, or you get better. Its that simple. You either take what’s been dealt to you and allow it to make you a better person or you allow you to tear you down. The choice does not belong to fate. It belongs to you. Josh Ship.
This is Sincerely Yours, and I’m you host Cece Denno.
Hello pen pals, and welcome back to another episode of Sincerely Yours, we had a quotable at the beginning of the episode and that was, “You either get better, or you get better. Its that simple. You either take what’s been dealt to you and allow it to make you a better person or you allow you to tear you down. The choice does not belong to fate. It belongs to you” Josh Ship. That was submitted by one of my college roommates Karen, and by now you know her if you listened to the prior episode and that was Freedom Trail. She submitted that to me, and this was actually the last one I have saved in the bank; so I beg you please please please, send me more quotables. You can send that to sincerelyyours@writeme.com or you can find me on Facebook, or on instagram at CeceKnowsItAll but definitely get those in and I’ll give you a shout out on the next episode. I really like this quotable because it ties into the theme of this episode, which is Always Take The Hill . Out of context that might not mean very much but let me explain.
All this running sure has made me tired. I’m glad to say that I have been running consistently. Most recently, and if you got the episode where I did the half marathon at Disney World back in February you’ll notice I was a little nervous about running, because I tore my calf last May in 2015. I was a little unsure if the race would go well. We’re past that and now we’re running on a consistent basis. On Monday nights, we go to Davis Square and there’s a running club, every Monday night. Its a lot of fun, its a good way to start the week, a good 5k in. We see a group of people every week, and its something to look forward to. To make sure that we start the week off good. I’ve discovered that Somerville is a very hilly place. The beginning of the run, you try to make it up this awful awful hill. The good thing about making it up the hill is that you get to come down the hill. I’ve sort of put in place and have had this idea that you know, if you can make it up the hill, then you should always take the hill down and you want to take advantage of that momentum. That you get a benefit of making it down the hill, and you want to take that, and you know you’ll finish your run, knowing that you’ve had a good run. It just seems to work. I’ve been keeping this in mind and its been such a benefit overall for my running. I’m a creature of habit and I did have the same run for about 6 years that I’ve lived in Cambridge. I’d always make it out to the Charles River not a very hilly run, but Somerville is definitely a different story. I
I’ve taken this mentality of always taking the hill and applied it in different parts of my life. If you have an advantage go ahead and use it. Its there, if you have a friend at a company where you want to work, reach out to them; ask them if there are any openings. You have those connections utilize them. There are many many other examples, that I could think of where you want to take the chance. I know its not always simple and I know its easy for me to say oh you should take a chance, but if there is something in your life that you want to change, look around you, look at what you have, and build off of it. Its much easier to build the momentum if you have something in place, such as always taking the hill.
That’s basically it, a quick little move in the right direction. A little bit of inspiration. If you are curious, to reach out to me to find out. If you would like to make a change in your life I want to hear about it. Lets start making stuff happen. That brings me to the episode that I have been looking forward to very very much. If you’ve been recently. I have hinted at it. I will have the interactive episode up in the next two weeks. I was so so thrilled, that I got an email at sincerelyyours@writeme.com asking for the interactive piece. It was so exciting because I put it together and I put it on instagram. I got even more people interested in the interactive piece. For the next episode it will be titled Symphony For The City of the Dead. I have an accompanying interactive piece that goes along with it. If you would like this piece you have to email your mailing address, and I will get this out to you. If you are catching up on older episodes, you can always email me and get the interactive piece.
